The aim of the project is to establish a sustainable structure that facilitates the use of digital examinations at universities and ensures their quality. The primary goal is to reduce the burden of technology, organisation and support for digital examinations for individual universities through targeted cooperation within Hochschule.digital Niedersachsen. The project focuses on e-examinations, i.e. digital on-campus exams conducted in a controlled environment, as well as online exams, taken by students at home without supervision.

Direct support for teaching staff and students on site remains the responsibility of each university, while the operation, technical support and further development of the systems are centralised. To this end, two technically mature, secure and stable e-exam systems will be provided centrally in two data centres, supported by a technical second-level support team available 12 hours a day, 6 days a week if needed. The entire process of integrating the e-exam systems is accompanied and supported by a central legal advisory unit.

• Support universities that want to implement digital exams but cannot meet all technical or organisational requirements
• Ensure a secure and reliable setup of technical solutions and procedures — including legal compliance
• Improve quality assurance and competence building through joint procedures and knowledge exchange
• Simplify the exchange of teaching materials between universities by establishing a shared technological foundation
