The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into higher-education teaching is an issue of pressing importance for instructors. Banning or rejecting new technologies is not a realistic option, which raises questions about how AI should be integrated, how fairness in assessments can be maintained, and how core competencies can be ensured before they are replaced by digital tools. For teaching, AI opens up a wide range of new opportunities for quality improvement and efficiency gains. When AI significantly simplifies the creation of learning materials, more space becomes available for personal interaction — for example in flipped-classroom scenarios.

In this multimedia self-study course, we begin with theoretical foundations of AI and didactics to develop a positive vision for re-orienting teaching. We then introduce concrete tools that the instructors have explored themselves and used in creating this course.
