Spreading Knowledge About Artificial Intelligence and Reducing Uncertainty

As part of the nationwide project “Coordinated AI Training for Higher Education Teaching” by the Network of State Institutions for Digital Higher Education (NeL) — funded by the "Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre" — universities and training providers have set themselves the goal of spreading knowledge about artificial intelligence, reducing uncertainty, and teaching safe, competent use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Midjourney.

We also make an important contribution to this project, by encouraging our partners to share their events and expertise on artificial intelligence, and by offering our own freely accessible online courses.

AI Project: Events and Courses

Our three course instructors, Alexander Piwowar, Dr. Felix Weber, and Merle Zander, are launching three exciting and insightful online courses starting April 1, 2024:

  • Safely Through the AI Jungle: Between Algorithms, Analysis and Adventure An online course for anyone who wants to learn how to use AI tools or further develop their practical skills. Participants get to know various AI tools and learn how to use them effectively.
  • Welcome to the Future – AI as a Tool in Teaching An online course for educators who want more guidance on all things AI. This course introduces multiple tools specifically designed for higher-education teaching.
  • Planning and Preparing Courses More Effectively with ChatGPT An online course focusing on ChatGPT as a tool for designing university courses. Anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge, write better prompts, and improve their teaching materials or exercises will find exactly what they need here.

Our legal expert Dr. Janine Horn also provided insights into legal questions surrounding artificial intelligence in the following events:

  • “AI Detectors and Digital Exams – Opportunities and Legal Boundaries” An event in collaboration with Multimedia Kontor Hamburg (MMKH), Virtueller Campus Rheinland-Pfalz (VCRP), and elan e.V.
  • “Legal Implications of Generative AI in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment” Part of the Lunch Meeting event series at the University of Oldenburg.
