Information Portal “Refugees in Lower Saxony” (ReiN)

www.refugees.niedersachsen.de

In May 2018, the information portal was given a revised thematic structure. Thanks to the improved navigation, users can now search either by topic – for example German courses, useful apps, counselling services or leisure activities – or specifically for all offers in a particular city or region. With the help of filters, results can be tailored and refined to match individual interests.

ReiN is aimed at both voluntary and full-time counsellors, integration guides and refugees. The main focus is on local and digital language-learning opportunities. In addition, the portal presents materials and tips for volunteers who, for example, teach German or work with children.

Full-time staff in counselling centres and educational institutions will find background information, guidelines and practical tools for a wide range of topics: from handouts for everyday counselling work and multilingual brochures explaining the school and vocational training system, to local networks and informative websites – the ReiN portal aims to provide not only centralised information, but also orientation.

The portal also includes information on funding opportunities for refugee projects, for example through foundations and municipalities, which can help make the work of all those involved more sustainable.

The broader thematic scope supports a wide variety of questions, helping to meet the information needs arising from the constantly changing life situations of refugees and to make integration easier. In addition to learning German, information on education and employment is a key component.

The steadily growing range of leisure activities – for example in the area of sports – and the many intercultural opportunities to meet, whether in an international café or a community bicycle workshop, are also important parts of the information offered.

Refugees can also use ReiN in English. The open and free information portal is available online at www.refugees.niedersachsen.de The portal is continuously being developed further, both in terms of the scope of its content and its functions.

To reflect the diversity of activities in all regions of Lower Saxony, we need your support. We welcome suggestions, questions and proposals for new offers. What information could ReiN provide to best support you in your work with refugees?

Staying in touch with you is important to us.
