LEIHS

Resource Management for Future-Oriented Universities

Everyday university life is full of tasks, deadlines, and processes, making it easy to lose track. Targeted digital support can provide significant relief. LEIHS was developed precisely for this purpose. This open-source Resource Management software simplifies the lending and reservation of books, equipment, and other materials. It reliably keeps track of who is using which resources, easing the workload for staff so they can focus on other tasks. Additionally, LEIHS supports the procurement of new materials, assisting with demand assessment, planning, and budgeting, thereby streamlining operations within the university.

Manage, book, lend

LEIHS keeps everything in view

As the name suggests, LEIHS is a versatile booking system for the lending of books, equipment, and other work materials. Staff can centrally manage the entire inventory, maintaining complete oversight at all times. Students, in turn, can simply select the desired books or technical equipment online, reserve them conveniently, and collect them on-site. LEIHS continuously records which materials are lent out, who is using them, and when they are due for return.

Authentication via LDAP

For a smooth login process, LEIHS can be connected to the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) authentication service. Many universities already use LDAP to centrally manage users and groups. Authentication and authorization are handled not directly within LEIHS, but through the existing service.
This has the advantage that all user data is maintained in one place, user profiles remain clear, and access rights are assigned automatically. Teachers and students only need one password, benefiting from a significantly simpler and more convenient user experience.
