From Opencast Editor and Studio to LMS Integration

elan e. V. works with open-source solutions to create added value and promote transparency As an active member of the Opencast community, elan contributes to the development and optimisation of the software. Our goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for both instructors and students. Opencast stands out for its high flexibility. The software allows for different permissions to be set, providing students and instructors with the appropriate functions. At the same time, Opencast can be seamlessly integrated into lecture hall technology,allowing events to be recorded automatically. This automated recording process requires minimal effort from instructors and minimally disrupts the regular flow of lectures.
Added value for users is provided by the editor for video editing—largely developed by elan e. V.—as well as the Opencast Studio.This allows recordings, including camera and microphone, to be started directly in the browser.
Those using Opencast should also consider adding Tobira to their toolkit. The video portal was specifically developed for universities and, with its user-friendly and visually appealing interface, provides greater clarity in video management. More information can be found HERE.
Opencast, as a video management tool, is compatible with various common learning management systems,including ILIAS, Stud.IP, and Moodle. Videos created and edited in Opencast can be uploaded to these LMS platforms and made available to students in the appropriate context.
