As part of the digitalisation surge of the past three years — driven primarily by the COVID-19 pandemic — universities were forced to explore new approaches to digital teaching within a very short period of time. As a result, instructors and students now have more experience in this area than ever before, and their expectations regarding the quality of digital courses have risen accordingly. To build on this momentum, it is essential that universities maintain sovereignty in shaping their digital transformation. The SOUVER@N project supports this goal by helping the network partners, eight small and medium-sized universities in Lower Saxony together with elan e.V., to establish this sovereignty sustainably and collaboratively. The project focuses on the following work packages:
Within the work package “Clarification of the Legal Framework”, elan e.V. supports universities in addressing legal challenges related to digital teaching. These include issues concerning copyright, data protection, higher-education law, online-exam regulations, as well as the development and licensing of OER materials.
