Online portal for Open Educational Resources in university teaching

twillo is the Lower Saxony portal for Open Educational Resources (OER) in university teaching. The goal of twillo is to provide high-quality educational materials that, through their free usability, should contribute to open access to education, information and knowledge and thus meet Goal 4 of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030).

The open source platform offers a sustainable and free service that teachers can use to publish and further develop openly licensed educational materials from all disciplines. twillo has been online since spring 2020 and was developed jointly by the E-Learning Academic Network Lower Saxony (ELAN e.V.), the TIB - Leibniz Information Center for Technology and Natural Sciences, the HIS Institute for Higher Education Development, the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer, the University of Osnabrueck and the Stud.IP designed and developed. The project is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture (MWK).

In addition to the repository, in which teachers can independently upload and manage their OER, twillo offers extensive support services. In addition to weekly live online advice and regular workshops, twillo provides a wide range of information, templates, self-learning units and much more. on the subject of OER and its creation and framework conditions. twillo offers access to more than 60,000 educational materials via the Open Educational Resources Search Index (OERSI) (as of February 2023).

In 2022, twillo was recognized as a digital place in Lower Saxony by the Lower Saxony digital agency .
